Paula is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland who works with individuals across the lifespan providing them a safe and therapeutic  space to process life’s adversities and grow from them. She believes in helping her clients become their best self as well as providing them with the tools necessary to not only understand, but also break through their current situations. She has previously worked in hospital and private practice settings providing services to individuals living with depression, anxiety, behavior and conduct issues, difficult life transitions, grief and trauma. Paula takes on a collaborative approach between herself and the client utilizing techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), person-centered and solution focused therapy. Paula received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and is working towards her Registered Play Therapist credential. She is trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy. She is fluent in both Portuguese and English and proficient in French and Spanish. In her free time, Paula enjoys reading, traveling, photography, and eating tacos. Paula is an Independent Contractor for Bethesda Play Therapy and Healing Center.
